In 2013, Sandra became the first woman Chief Executive of Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce (in nearly 200 years). She was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to economic development and social care in Scotland.

Her career began in the UK Civil Service, before moving to economic development agency Scottish Enterprise in 1991, she was a core member of the team that won the Scottish Marketing Grand Prix Award in 1999 for the ground breaking Dundee “City of Discovery” campaign. She became one of the UK’s first chartered marketers and was commended for her work developing the agency’s Brand Strategy, which transformed SE’s marketing and made multi-million pound savings.

In 2004, she joined the Care Commission, heading up Corporate Communications & Equality; and was seconded in 2009 to the Scottish Government to lead a team working on the user focus aspect of the Public Sector Reform Bill. More recently and now semi-retired, Sandra has several small business interests and is an active charities campaigner/ambassador and board member.
