D&A Textiles students have been preparing their collection as part of their Textiles course and are excited to present a Dundee-inspired collection celebrating the inaugural year and the exciting creative developments in the city. Students from the Textiles courses at Dundee and Angus College have been working extremely hard on developing garments and accessories for the Dundee Fashion Week Finale. The work on show will include subtraction pattern cutting dresses based on the textiles history of Dundee, and other fashion accessories such as hats and bags. The students will also be modelling their creations on the catwalk which is causing a real buzz within the Textiles department. The Textiles courses offer learners the opportunity to study a range of aspects of the textiles industry, from garment construction, screen-print, textiles for interior design, surface decoration, and digital design, with students enjoying the courses focus of textiles for fashion and interior design. This opportunity will create a portfolio for their next steps and greatly enhance their career prospects. The skills they will have learnt both in terms of garment creation, and showcasing and promoting their products will stand them in good stead for the future as well as share their creative talent with the audience. Dundee and Angus College is proud of the real work experience they are able to offer their students and would like to thank the sponsors and partners who have made this opportunity possible.
ARI | London is a contemporary concept label focused on remastering design by reviving traditional techniques. The collection is designed in London and produced in our innovative micro studio in Scotland. Working with a focus on sustainable and ethical luxury design whilst supporting the local community and promoting fair employment is incredibly important to us. We promote transparent production and so therefore our entire production line for every garment is recorded and reported so that is clear exactly when, how, where and who made each garment. Deborah is a Dundee and Angus College Enterprise Dragon's Winner and alternative fashion designer based in Dundee. Born in 1979 in Edinburgh, Deborah began sewing when she was in primary 1 at school. Encouraged by her granddad, Leslie Wilde (the late Dundee based artist from the 1970s) Deborah kept her promise to her granddad that she would continue to always paint and draw and be creative in her life. She was an avid sewer throughout her life, yet things sprang into place when she began making clothes for her nephew, Max. Deborah applied to college to study textiles yet never imagined it would lead to a career in fashion! Her label is based on bright and bold colours and patterns, with that gothic twist she so loves. The name derives from her childhood as she was known as a wild child, yet pays homage to her late granddad Leslie Wilde. Wilde mode means, wilde fashion, a wilde way of life and always being in Wilde Mode! Imagine Clothing that is not only eco-friendly and made from sustainable sources but best of all comfortable, unique and expresses your inner Wilde Mode!
